It's many a long year since I was given a camera for my 12th birthday and for the next ten years or more scarcely a day went by when I didn't shoot at least one roll of Kodak film. As a press photographer my pictures had to tell a story. In those days we didn't have the luxury of an Olympus digital camera shooting gratuitously at ten frames a second, so with lots of practice one learnt to observe intently and shoot decisively to capture the moment.
